Last Sunday I visited a musical exhibition. Part of a special project that gave a fascinating picture of the pre-war Jewish music life in the Drenthe and Groningen Veenkoloniën and the music in Westerbork during the Second World War.
The sound of the shofar could be heard three times!
1st time: While we were waiting for what was about to come, a man came in and started blowing the shofar. People said, "What is this, how do you call this instrument?" Nobody said anything, so I started to explain about the shofar and how it is used. And that I also sound the shofar, when Abba wants me to do it!
The second time that we could hear the sound of the shofar was just before the exhibition began. And the third time we could hear the penetrating sound was after the break.
I met a woman who, as I later discovered, is a journalist. She had listened to me as I explained what the shofar is and how it is used.
Just before we entered the hall where we would watch the performance, she whispered to me, "Is it okay that I use this for the newspaper?" I did not know what to say, because I only do things when Abba gives me the green light. Probably she could read my thoughts, by the expression on my face, and she said, "Just think about it"
I did not see her during the break, while she had been right behind us. So, I told Yochanan my husband, "She's already gone, but if Abba wants me to come in that newspaper, she has to come to me." At the same moment I saw her emerge from a corner and she immediately stepped up to me and asked, "Can I use it?" And I said yes!
This morning I found out that it was not used. I read a number of different reviews about the exhibition, but it was just one of many cultural events. Some talked about the beautiful music, and the one traveling with the group told about how the idea was born, and that was it.
It is late in the afternoon and Abba burned a message in my heart.
Because what happened is not a joke, but something serious in his eyes.
He made it clear that the people of today do not listen to the shofar! And if they do, they joke, talk through it and do not even know what it is, let alone that He calls us, warns us!
We write about Israel, we write about the country, the people and sometimes about the past. But not about the G'D of Avraham Yitzchak and Yaakov, the Holy One of Israel, the I Am!
And he burned this sentence in my heart: "THEY DO NOT LISTEN TO THE SHOFAR! They do not pay attention to My voice!"
There are not many people who want to listen to HIS word! We have turned it into something that can tolerate our ears a bit better. We extract writings from the context. We say that we died to ourselves, but still follow our own voice.
When Abba called me in 1995, He made it clear that I was a prophetess for His Name! Not to please people or to caress their ears.
I can assure you that since yesterday I have such a heavy feeling, I cannot even describe it. I also experience grief, because of what happens before our eyes.
It was a great afternoon. With breathtaking music and people parading in beautiful clothes, awaiting what would come. Creative people. Who love music, photos, paintings, dance, and so on.
But behind the spotlights, somewhere in a small corner, stood our KING, He looked, and He searched for someone listening to His voice! Abba calls us to come home! And I'm not talking about Israel! But his heart!
Since the 90`ts I have to share a message of Teshuva (Repentance) Do we listen? Are we in love with Israel, or the people or do we worship G'D? The judgment starts in HIS own HOME!
Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them…and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage…then you say in your heart, "My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth." And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Then it shall be, if you…forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods…I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish…because you would not be obedient to the voice of the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 8:10-20)
